4. How will I know my Child will be safe?
Upward Bound Youth is very serious about safety. We have a secure check-in system that prints out unique name tags for each child every week. Your child will wear their tag during their time with us and will not be dismissed to anyone other than who brought your child to Youth Night. We also prioritize safety by requiring that every Upward Bound Youth staff member and volunteer is screened and must complete extensive safety forms, including passing a background check. If we need to contact you during the event for any reason, we will call or text the phone number that you registered your child with.
Additionally, Upward Bound Youth has taken steps to ensure that any kind of abuse does not occur amongst staff, volunteers, and program participants. We have partnered with GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in Christian Environments) to employ prevention strategies and response protocols.
Every week, students are made aware of our Ground Rules: Be Safe, With Respect, Stay Curious. We further explain that we have a Safeguarding Team (see below). Students can recognize the Team by seeing the Safety Symbol on their lanyards if they need to talk. We also make sure students know, "If you have to pee, go inthrees!" Sometimes we re out by the playround or field when a student needs to use the bathroom. We want either two staff/volunteers, or two students to head back inside to use the restroom so there is never one student left alone with an adult.

If you would like to contact someone from the Safeguarding Team, please feel free to email any one of them.
